Perforated black leather for 2004 Boxster seats

My driver's seat bottom cushion leather is kind-of messed up. A little hardening in one area and a small hole in another, all in the bottom center part. Rest of the seat and passenger seat leather is ok. Otherwise the seats are fine.

Anyone did a leather replacement on their seats? This leather is a perforated kind of leather. I would like to see if I can get the leather and give it to my upholster to re-upholster the bottom center part of the driver's seat. I am avoiding to spend and buy new seat(s) just because of the small thing particularly since my seats are otherwise fine...

Thanks.

I think my seat has the same issue, in two small quarter size spots its looks little rough almost like how plastic melts with ridges. Each year I use leather conditioner (once a month) but that doesn't seem to fix the issue. I thought at first a surgar candy got on the seat and with the hot sun melted into the leather but doesn't seem to come off....

An upholsterer can MAKE those perforations. They set up a matrix that punches the holes in the leather of your choosing. It's somewhat expensive.

I know this because I have to get my seat fixed as well.

Apparently the upholsters are able to order the near-matching leather with the perforation from leather suppliers. Two things to consider the space between perforations (in our case it is about 4-5 mm) and the direction of the perforations (in our case it is not parallel to the seat sides but diagonal. Therefore they have to order a larger piece to rotate the same and stitch it. Just some detail.

My upholster quoted me $400 - $200 for leather material (perforated) and $200 for labor. This is just for the bottom cushion. I have not gone for it. Will find another way. I only have a small hole (probably caused by a key dangling from PO's pocket...:)
