Question PCA Insurance

Hi, I was over at the Porsche Club of America site and noticed that they stated something about getting "Access to specialized insurance for Porsches that are second autos/pleasure only/limited use." if you join. I was wondering if anyone has had any experence with this and what they think about it. I woud love to be able take advantage of this if the coverage is good because my Box dosen't get driven all that much and I hate having to pay the price of a all the time car. Any experence would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I use Leland-West Ins. Brokers out of Fresno, CA. They have several programs (limited or unlimited mileage) for Sports Cars, Collectables, HotRods and the like and advertise in Panorama. I have used them for years on several of my Cars - non-Porsche.

They require PCA Membership to write insurance on my Boxster. Even factoring in the $42 annually for PCA, at $295/yr. (5,000 mi.) for Full annual coverage, they were less expensive than similar coverage from my normal carrier (GEICO) or Haggerty, and several other Specialty insurers. Hope this helps...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

I use American Collectors Insurance, Inc. for collision/loss and USAA for liabilty on my 914-6. www.AmericanCollectorsIns.com Was referred by USAA my carrier. Club membership, garage and limited to 1200 mi/yr (with exceptions for driving to or in non-speed car club events). Also car must be out of production. Costs about $120.00 per year. Never had a claim, so cannot comment on quality of service. Not sure what other packages they might offer.

Oh, and it is stated value policy, meaning I say what it is worth. I get regular PCA valuations to back up my value statement.

You have to watch the fine print, so be careful. Jim is not the only one to recommend Leland-West, so I'd check 'em out.
