Seat back restoration...
My beater Boxster is at the shop getting body work and paint job done. I figured it's a good time to do something about the rear of the bucket seats when I get it back.
You can see in the photo pieces of the back rubbed off badly. Should I use dye or paint products? Any input would be greatly appreciated! http://clubweb.net/photos/seat_back.jpg |
have it painted the dyes won't last.

To be honest i've never seen a damage like that before. Maybe in germany we don't have that much sun. Also your seats look like they have a leather back.
My seats have a plastic back. They look like this: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1426513982.jpg If you have the same surface but maybe the paint is gone i would recommend to paint them. There was also a OEM tequipment option for these seat with painted backs in the exterior color. Looked like this: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1426514011.jpg |
My car has those painted sport seats...
they have rub marks on the back I assume from the firewall carpet as well as some near the top near the roll bars that are a bit perplexing. I was going to try and repaint them and the similar areas around the power seat switches when I paint the console and arm rest pieces.

Thank you for the response fellas. I'll look into painting the rear of the seats. I thought the material was plastic but now I need to look at it again when it's out of the paint shop to see if the material is leather.
Have a great week! |
If they are the sport seats (with the funky bolsters) then
the backing is more than likely plastic. The standard seats were the ones available with a vinyl/leather backing and not the plastic shell of the sport seats.
