Coolant Flush

I am in the process of changing my coolant expansion tank and decided I would flush the whole system while I'm at it. I followed the instruction in Pedro's Garage but I only managed to get about 12 litres out of the car. The car is a 2000 Boxster S and from what I understand there should be about 18 litres in the system. what am I missing?
P.S. I disconnected the 2 big hoses as part of the draining and the drain screw.

In order to get it all ...

... you should also disconnect the hose that goes into the thermostat and then raise the front of the car a bit so that the three radiators can fully drain.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

I will check tonight If I am correct I did disconnect that hose also and I raised the car I did get some extra but not nearly enough of what should be in there.

Did you remove the water pump and water pump valve?
Have you removed both lower hoses at the front radiators?
Have you liftet only the rear, or the whole car? You have to lift the rear only.

Did you check if the coolant fluid valve is opened? (image - 5. Prüfen ob Kühlmittelventil geöffnet ist)

Did you remove the vent line? (image - 3. Entüftungsleitung trennen)

BTW: very good that you measured the amount of fluid you've drained.

I will verify it all again tonight to see if I missed anything. The only thing I can think of is I didn't remove the vent line. I did have the coolant expansion Tank completely off when I drained it though. I just really want to make sure I get it all out no sense mixing new coolant with old.

I didn't remove the hoses at the front because that would require removing the front bumper I think. I removed the supply hoses towards the rear of the car instead.

It's not 12 litres, and it's not 18 litres:

Thanks for posting that.

I got some more to drain yesterday but I am only at 16 litres now. Do we really have 22 litres in the boxster S with manual transmission?
