need a battery ? Pep Boys unknown sale
I use a local PepBoys for certain items I don't want to deal with on my daily drivers ( not the Boxster ). The other day I received an email from PB stating a 25 % off sale. It was fairly clear that it had to be used online but for the heck of it yesterday I visited my local store. As it turns out I need a battery for my S as it recently crapped out. Priced out a Bosch battery but the local store would not honor the coupon. OK online it is. This morning I went online, picked my local store which was the one I was at yesterday and chose my battery. When I got the check out I used the 25 % off coupon and it worked ! But then another coupon popped up for 30 % off !!! I used that and received 30 % off so in total saved $44.40 not bad. So out the door with local tax price is $125.71 for a Group 48 Bosch battery with 700 CCA and a 3 year warranty. I hope the same guy is behind the counter as yesterday :D To rub it in further they offer free install but I'm not letting them touch the P car. It's all good

I did this twice last year. They seem to have that coupon all the time. Same Battery & no problems.

Jinx and I have used them for batteries, lamps, polishes and air and oil filters
On the Boxster, a Audi TT and a Audi A8L both of which have been traded or Sold. Great service from my local store and great selection and quality of all Items. Total love their Scott brand Pro-shop towels. We no longer purchase Paper towels at the local grocery store. They installed the batteries in all three cars no prolems at all free of Charge vs dealer $$$. Have also had they pull computer error codes also-free of charge. |
I recently put a new battery in my '01 Base and in investigating them in the Porsche parts system, noted that Base gets a 70 ah battery and S gets (maybe it's can get) an 80 ah battery.
'mericuns don't seem to deal with amp-hour ratings but best I can tell Group 48 = H6 = 70 ah Group 94R = H7 = 80 ah I determined this with the chart here: http://www.eastpennmanufacturing.com/wp-content/uploads/Deka-Exact-Fit-Flyer-0379.pdf The Ford (!) dealer where I bought my Boxster had installed a group 91 and when I replaced it with a 94R the holddown screw went into the threads one step to the right (side of car) of where they were previously. Deka, BTW, has the contract to produce BMW-label batteries for USA BMW dealers and they are good stuff. Bosch has nothing to do with production of PepBoys batteries other than licensing use of the name. |
Plus I got $15.00 off for the dead core I brought in so $110.71 in total !!!
