If you paid me $8500 I still wouldn't let you park that thing anywhere near my house. That was a truly ugly find.

===>>>REAL*2004*Porsche*Boxster*Race Car*$33k OBO<==== - $33000 (Jacksonville)

https://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/6056866551.html

The ad body (copied below in case this ad disappears)

A few issues:
  • Legal for Spec Boxster? It is a 2004 with a 2.7 Liter engine. It says BRSCC Spec Boxster, maybe some UK class?
  • But it has a 6 speed transmission (ok I guess that could be added or optioned)
  • It has the 97-2002 old style spoiler - I can't think of any excuse for this one on a 2004 unless it is some of those UK Spec Boxster rules.
  • Accusump in the cabin next to the driver, IMO a bad idea

Actually I was going to try and point out some issues but it looks like they all may just be artifacts of it being a full on race car. You don't see one like this every day.

Looks like there is some sort of UK classing for Boxsters over there:

PCA Club Racing / SCCA STU / NASA GTS3 / BRSCC Spec Boxster / Street Legal Porsche Boxster.
This car is a Former Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge ST Class Contender. It is a fully developed track car with GPS based AIM MXL Pista Data Acquisition. It has a Porsche M96 2.7 LTR with Ceramic IMS Bearing installed & X51 Oil Pan and a 3 Qt Accusump Oil System.

The Porsche North America crate engine in the car was purchased from Deman Motorsports and after an engine dyno break-in period, was only raced once at Miami Homestead. Since then car has run approximately 6 hours at a private track in Willcox, AZ. It has 227 HP and 204 FT/LBS of Torque @ the wheels and has an estimated Top Speed of 170 MPH. It weighs 2600 LBS, has Koni 16-way Adjustable Coil-Over Suspension, 6 Speed "S" Manual Transmission, Limited Slip Differential, 3 Radiators with Boxster "S" center, Exhaust Headers w/ Ceramic Coatings, Gold Foiled Intake System, Momo Steering Wheel, Cobra Racing Seat, 5 Point Schroth Racing Harness, Cayman Engine Mounts, Porsche Motorsport Air/Oil Seperator, 911 GT3 Cup Control Arms (Front/Rear) w/ Spherical Monoball Ends & Adjustable Shims Set, 911 GT3 Cup Brake Cooling Ducts, Custom Front Fender Liners (GT3 based), Tarett Sway Bars with Adjustable Drop Links, 3 Point Fire Suppression System, Aero Bumpers, 3 Saftey Nets, Hard Wired AMB 260 Transponder, Racing Electronics Radio Car Kit System, Driver Cool-Suit System, moveable Ballast Box, a Removable Hardtop. Wheelbase: 95.1 in (2,416 mm) - Width: 70.1 in (1,781 mm) - Height: 50.8 in (1,290 mm) - Length: 170.1 in (4,321 mm) Weight: 2606 lbs. (1182 kg). It has a good assortment of spares.

Here are the comments from the previous owner of the car: This car does everything you ask of it and inspires your confidence to find its limits without biting you when your go beyond them. The mid-engine layout provides smoothness throughout the rev range, a low center of gravity, near-perfect weight distribution, and neutral handling. The car was raced in Grand-Am at 2600 lbs though can be easily lightened. It saw 151 mph at the end of the Daytona road course front straight before braking into turn one. It was pulling strong and had just entered 6th gear with lots of room to go, equaling a very quick ride. This car's braking capabilities were unmatched by its competition in class. It is an ultra-competitive PCA Club Racing, SCCA STU, NASA GTS3, and BRSCC Spec Boxster entry going forward plus is a silly street legal machine! This car was originally built by Jim Pierce at Pierce Motorsport in Torrance, CA. His shop is right next door to Tony Callas' Porsche shop Callas Rennsport and he used his expertise on a couple occasions throughout the build process.

The car was campaigned and developed by Q3 Autosport, formerly Prey Racing in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series ST Class. The team was essentially ready to rebuild the car at the track at any moment and thankfully never had to do it. Here's a list of the spares package: Service Manual, new set of brake discs front/back (UFO style), extra Performance Friction Pads front/back, Electric Fans & Side Radiators, and many more new spare parts.
The current owner is selling this car because he bought a Lotus 211 and will be running in a different class.

$80k Build Up
Over $25k in Spare Parts

•Legal for Spec Boxster? It is a 2004 with a 2.7 Liter engine. It says BRSCC Spec Boxster, maybe some UK class? I don't know what class that is but the engine, transmission, battery placement and I think even the year wouldn't make it legal for bsr
•But it has a 6 speed transmission (ok I guess that could be added or optioned) I know of someone else that has switched to the 6 speed for a 2.7 because it's a more durable transmission than the 5 speed.
•It has the 97-2002 old style spoiler - I can't think of any excuse for this one on a 2004 unless it is some of those UK Spec Boxster rules. He probably lost the cover to the 03/04 spoiler and went with the early style because it's so much cheaper
•Accusump in the cabin next to the driver, IMO a bad idea. The passenger seat and foot well are where the boxster needs ballast the most. Guessing that's one reason he put it there

LM resleeved block and a whole bunch of parts like pistons to go with it. Might be a good deal for someone with a blown motor or a spec racer.

1974 Porsche Type 181 (not a VW Thing) One of Five in the World - $185000

Looks like a VW Thing to me, even has a VW emblem on the nose in the sales brochure picture.

2000-2004 Boxster 986 Instant G muffler / Exhaust - Race | eBay

Shame it is not the whole system - headers, cats, etc.
Those tips look a bit weedy - definitely would have to weld on some bigger ones!

I'd be more comfortable with that if it just showed a picture with it covered and three feet of snow on top.

Not Boxster, nor Porsche, related, but I wanted to share something I just came across on CL.

I feel like this ad would be better if it came from Florida instead of Vegas.

https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/6066055437.html

They get an A+ just for the ad.
