Boxster 6 speed stuck in 5th gear
Title speaks for itself, was driving the car, tried to leave 5th for 4th grinded, car will not Leave 5th gear.

Check shift cable connection at trans 1st. If still good then you have to remove console to check connection at shifter.
|
Got the car out of gear with my father down in the linkage, he said a sleeve had fallen. Got it done in an ingles parking lot.
|
Driving easy, got it to a qt for a fill up, the purpose of the trip, about to nurse it home.
|
Shift cables fell or popped off.
|
Home now, reverse through 6th are fine. Guess it's good. Worked out of 5th with my father working on the linkage once out it all feels good now. Just gonna baby it a bit.
|
Glad it worked out for you. Did you determine with certainty what the issue was. You would not want it happening far from home.

Lol not gonna lie, it was a good time to have someone in the car with me. Took two people regardless though. Everything feels good, gears just got stacked and took some working loose. |
Jake. Quit breaking Boxsters :p

Argh I am trying haha. I have a Bosch maf sensor coming in the mail, everything should be solid then! |
Had that happen to me in my dad's 964. In that case, though, it was stuck in 4th and the plastic bushings in the shift rods finally disintegrated and the rod fell off. That was fun starting from stops.
New inserts in the cups, bam. Shifts like butter. |
Wait! BigJake had a posting asking for help??? I'm impressed. :)

I once had a manual shift car that would hang up hard in gear from time to time. Turns out the main bushing at the base of the shifter was worn out. Replacing the shifter mechanism fixed the problem.
