Transmission Control Unit Replacement

1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,

I have scoured everywhere looking for instructions on where it is located and how to replace the Tiptronic Controller Unit on the 1998 Boxster and can't find anything except the units themselves available on eBay. Can't even find it on Pelican Parts etc.

Maybe someone here knows and can supply me with links or detailed instructions.

Also for those that have done it and know, is it a simple remove and replace job, or does it involve hooking the car up to the OBD and resetting/clearing codes and would any TCU of the same model do?

This is the part I mean

Thanks Guys, much appreciated.

Jon,

I think it is plug and play. That is my unit above, PM me with and offer if you'd like to purchase.

Thanks

Justin

It is on the forward bulkhead of the rear trunk, behind a trim panel.

Back here.

Attached with 4 mounting bolts. Make sure you remove the tcu and not the ecu/motronic engine computer, they kind of look the same

Justin,

Thanks for the information. Some others I've spoken to have informed me it's not PlugnPlay and needs to be the precise Part number replacement. I still have no idea to be honest. Porsche aren't much help.
I am having some flaring issues with the TIP, and I thought maybe it's the TCU, I've had it serviced (by an indy) but it's still doing it a little, so it may be hydraulic or mechanical. Fortunately I found out last week I don't live far away from the ZF Tranny specialists, so I've booked my car in for the end of the month, they'll diagnose and test the TIP and let me know.

If any of you are wondering what it is like to drive the car without a TCU. Just remove the fuse E10, you'll soon replace it !!
