Columbia, SC? Anyone? I need service.

Hello... I'm a fairly new Porsche owner with an 02 Boxster up for a 60K service. Attempting to avoid the $1800+ service by the dealership, I've begun to search the few aftermarket service shops in the area (i.e. Doc's, German Autowerks, Sussex, etc...). Hoping there is somebody in this forum who's has experience with service shops in the area (good and bad) who can offer advice. I've seen many posts recommending the "DIY" approach, but considering my experience with other DIY projects, it ends up costing me more to have somebody repair what I've fixed!!!

Is the full dealership service recommended? I'm afraid what else they might find!!! I'm considering hitting the main items such as lube... filters... plugs... drive belt...

Any advice???

Also.... I don't have the stereo code and have been without sound since my battery died a year ago. Is there "cheater" method of resetting the code? Key Fob does not work remotely. Not sure if that's also a result of losing the program when the battery died, but dealer wants $300 for a replacement key!!! Thanks!!!

The radio code is easy. Go here and post the serial number and check back in a day or so.

SC Porsche shops can be found here. No experience.

I have done a mix of things. Some myself. Some independent. Some dealer. Even some fast-lube place. Depended what I needed done. I tended to find that gem of an indie and stick with them but sometimes they just aren't available in the area I needed them.
