De-badge

Ok I've looked through other threads and haven't found my answers. I want to take off my Boxster S badges tonight. Heat gun? How do I remove the residue without harming the finish? Finally, will the paint show the old badge? By that I mean, will the rest of the paint be slightly faded compared to the covered paint?
Thanks!

Hair dryer and some fishing line or dental floss. Then goo gone for the residue and finally wax.

you may have a "shadow" where the old badge was. usually a little rubbing compound will take care of it for you.

Did mine a few weeks ago.
1. Dental floss as stated.
2. Wife's hair dryer on high heat and using fingernails/fingers to gently scrape and roll the vast majority of it off.
3. DA orbital polisher with a bit of a cut to it (think I did chemical guys optical grade 36 then 38).
4. Wax.

Really can't tell it was ever there unless you get it wet and really look for it.

Well, there we go. I'll try some polishing compounds next since you can read the "Boxster S" clear as a bell. Came off easy though.

Nice!
Yeah, I felt pretty safe polishing somewhat aggressively since I knew that spot had never seen any machine polisher with the badge in the way.
Now you just have to get rid of the amber, and then this and that and on and on forever! Stuff like this is a huge stress relief for me. Love seeing the change.

Ah yes, the de-ambering has begun! Tail lights are next.

I'm not one hundred percent sure what to do next. I really like "PORSCHE" across the back but I also like "986" or "986 S" too. Can people with new badges, other than the Porsche letters show some pictures?
