Brake Wear light came on today
Got the car washed today and after the brake wear light came on. I dropped it at the shop and they will let me know on Tuesday. My wife thinks it was the car wash. Is that possible?

What does a visual inspection tell you about the brake pads themselves? Sometimes all four brake pads don't wear evenly. It could also be faulty sensors.

Well I dropped it at the shop so I can't check.

time to replace the brake pads. normal maintenance. I highly recommend using ceramic pads, less dust to clean off of your wheels. when the light is illuminated you still have a few thousand miles left, so you would have time to order your pads online if you choose to do so.

If the light comes on, do you need to buy new sensors?

wear
Yes some times water can cause the light to come on if the sensor is slightly nicked.

The brake sensor works by looping wire around the end of the sensor. When the rotor wears through the wire and breaks the circuit, the Brake Service light on the dash turns on. Its that simple. So yes, usually if the light turns on, you will have to replace the sensor that indicated the fault. |
