Painting front bumper

I have a 2000 986 and the front bumper has lots of scratches, some of which are badly touched up (too thick), and an area of paint cracks. Can someone give me some advice
as to how to properly re-touch it? I have spray touch-up paint, as well as some related items (sandpaper etc).

A good body shop will make it new for about $450 and about 350 if you remove and replace. Never seen a good touch up job. I periodically bite the bullit and have mine done.

On the hood in an area about 2 sq. ft., the clear coat turned white and partially flaked off when a wet floormat was laid there. Do you think the whole hood needs to be repainted as well?

The flexible bumpers need an additive to the paint mix that keeps the paint somewhat flexible too. Paint needs the ability to move a bit without flaking off. I doubt you will get that ingredient in a rattle can. Be advised.

I had mine repainted at an auto body shop for 350 bucks. It came out great and still looks great after 1 year.
