My Indy guy says mill out old bearing / bushing, press in new bushing, add new seal, done. The gearbox case pops right off.

A roller bearing would be a permanent fix. The shift lever arm is held in by one clip and the arm's shaft is not worn at all.

Correct. They have a machinist. Says easy job, actually. More like $350. Getting IMS for $750 with trans removed. I'm doing everything else.

The seal on the outside is needed too. The bushing takes up wobble and movement.
