Durametric ^.^

I have a temporary durametric. My local mechanic is a friend of mine and let me take his home. Other than the over revs, obc activation, and checking all codes. What else would you do with the tool first?

Check the cam deviations at idle with a fully warmed up car and make a note of them, and verify that they are holding steady. +/- 6.0 is the deviation limit.

You could also plot your pre and post cat O2 sensor voltages to get an idea of the state of your cats. The pre cat sensors should be like a sine wave and the post cat sensors flat.

These settings can be found under the "Actual Values" section.

These are described elsewhere in the forum, I can provide a link tomorrow.

Durametric

Write down every item you can get a reading on and show it to your mechanic friend to see if he spots any issues. It will only take you ten minutes. You may never get another chance.

I'm pretty sure I can get access to this thing again. I have a tool already that shows nearly every reading.
I will still do all of this, probably with screen shots, just because.

Look at RPM, MAF, ignition timimg, Tra Fra to check for a vacuum leak. Low MAF reading plus fuel trims in the plus area (2-4) indicate a vacuum. leak. Take off the oil cap and see how the values change, you should get fuel trims going up, MAF going down.
