LED H7 replacement bulbs for headlights
I have been thinking about replacing my H7 headlight bulbs with LEDs
These are a couple that look interesting Amazon.com: New Brights All-in-One LED Headlight Conversion Kit - All Bulb Sizes - 40W 4000LM Cree LED - Replaces Halogen & HID Bulbs - H7: Automotive http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OB2WZGK/ref=s9_simh_gw_p263_d0_i4?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf _rd_s=desktop-2&pf_rd_r=1NK408XTZWTP6JY2Y7Q8&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd _p=1970567562&pf_rd_i=desktop http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HFK2RFO/ref=s9_simh_gw_p263_d0_i5?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf _rd_s=desktop-2&pf_rd_r=1NK408XTZWTP6JY2Y7Q8&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd _p=1970567562&pf_rd_i=desktop Has anyone had a experience putting these into the standard headlights (not projectors) Fred (Nine8Six), would it be possible to put them in your projectors instead of HID's? |
It's possible that Fred could build an LED bulb that would fit into his projectors, but getting them to work with the existing optics would be...wonky. A lot of work for something that may or may not be an improvement.
I'm not sure how they'd fare in the stock housings, but the 986 headlights are sealed, so there is nowhere for all that heat to go. |
I've experienced with LED last year and the performance was not even 50% of the xenon gas (using custom lenses and all). Conclusion is if you want something equally as effective as xenon in the LED format, you'll need to deal with "extreme" temp that LED generates. I've figured out near as twice as what xenon outputs (major fire hazard, needs serious cooling).
Maybe in a few years when the tech gets a bit more advanced. For the moment, Xenon is the best mate (cheap also) |
You da man
(You too Charles) I'm a little surprised that LEDs generate more heat than xenon, but you know your shyte |
Don't get me wrong. Lexus have some of the best LED headlights, I've seen them. Are they more effective than HID/xenon? YES+
Flux in Beam. Anyone capable of designing optic formulas for any given color/temp per lumen requirements will also be able to design the ultimate projection lens. Give me $1,000,000 and 12months! Lexus and others have already done it apparently.... they are not using the $9.99 leds tech that we all see on Amazon I promise you ;) (lots to learn my man) For now, for us, 55w halogen has more lumen output than those leds |

2.5k being the average cheap Chinese HID 35w kit you find everywhere in HK and eblay (which I say is still the best today, economically anyway). Even has purple! |
Me again, you really started me off huh Jay loll
There, that's what you need. Optimized optic & light distribution for a 360degree xenon gas bulb. Works, that bundle makes all the other Amazonian options look like mini led flashlights lolll And it's bi-xenon (both high and low in one package). You'd be silly http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1422944999.jpg |
I am guessing that is the innards of your creation
Very cool !!! |
Amazon H7 Led bulbs put directly into stock headlights
I replaced my stock bulbs with these H7 LEDs I found on amazon. I can see an obvious difference, but my brights dont do anything, when I flick my brights on, the indicator light on the dash comes on, but nothing happens.https://www.amazon.com/Aukee-Headlight-Lumens-Extremely-Conversion/dp/B07FRC77GX/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=154863024 0&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=h7+led+headlight+bulb&psc=1. These are the bulbs I purchased. I might replace the high beam with the original halogen bulb and see what happens or vice versa, currently I am running 4 of these H7 LEDs I bought off of AMazon. No problem so far except for the fact that I cant figure out if the brights are always on or if they are always off. Any suggestions?
