New sewed in rear windows - do they leak?

My rear plastic window tore (15 year original!) so now I decide my next step. I got a quote for a local reputable place to sew in a new window for a little less than $200 if I bring them the top. Another shop expressed concern that such a job will leak a little - has anybody else had a problem with this since the new window won't be glued in too?

So I either get it sewn in for $200 or buy a new top for $465 from autotopsdirect. Glass window doesn't interest me. My top is in excellent condition but I'm wondering if it's just worth buying a whole new top since I'll have the whole thing off anyways.
