And the high was 18.
Beater Boxster ran lopsided like it was only on 2 cylinders until it reached about 100 degrees operating temp. Was fine rest of the day, even if the engine cooled completely down again.
Sleet storms next two days. Yay.

On the plus side... My bumper sticker finally came in.

Sorry to deviate from the topic, which I can whole heartedly empathize with as well :-(, and I know for a fact it has been discussed on here before(tried searching but failed:-(), but I see so many pictures with the Speedo readout in the middle and the odometer on the left. Please remind me if that's certain years' Boxsters or if that's Boxsters that have the obc package? If it's the latter and one does the obc hack, is it then possible to switch layouts? Thanks.

There are two styles of clusters in the 986's. The 2000 and older cars had the digital speedometer in the middle. The 2001 and later cars had the digital speedometer under the analog speedometer on the left.

I know that you cannot change the location in the 2000 and older cars. Not sure about the 2001 and newer, but I doubt it.

Gotcha, so it depends on year. That's exactly the answer I was looking for.

Just worked in Lyman, WY the last 2 days. Got back late last night.

It was -22 in the mornings, -2 for a high temp, and the garage we worked in was 12 without the heater. Got up to 36 with heat.

Back home it's -3 in the mornings and 20 for a high.

How does your car display the outside temp? Is it an optional feature that can be added? I'd love to do it to my 99

Your car already has this feature - you just need a durametric tool to activate it. Search "OBC hack" and you'll find everything you need to know.

As far as I know, the temp display was part of the On Board Computer option.
16 is cold enough. ;) That's why I could never live any further north than I do.
I hesitated adding a sticker, but it's only one, for fun. ;) The weekend Boxster will remain clean.

The temperature is the first 'page' of the OBC.

If you turn on the OBC you get the temperature, if you add a button (search OBC hack) you can cycle through the 'pages' from temperature, to miles to empty, average MPG, average speed, and the most useless feature ever, speed gonging.


Just in case your where wondering, the Boxster does have a negative sign. Took this last year, I think it got down to -17° once, but I didn't have a camera handy.
