Crash course in auto body...

Got the paint matched in spray cans.

Removed intake on drivers side, center grill, and bumperettes.

Over sprayed every part. Sand, start over.

Bondo over cracks not perfect. Every finger print from touching while wet shows. Allow to dry.

Over spray clear coat. Sand, refinish.

Sheesh. This time is the last. Finally looking good.

Installed the right side. Not too bad as viewed, actually.

From the photo it looks good. But your experience sounds very similar when I try something.

Wishing I had as much room in my garage.

Keep us posted on your progress

Happy Holidays to you!

The shop is 2500 sq' near downtown. The truck lives in the other spot. Full weld & wood working setups.

Paint stand.

You can see where the truck sits.

Front intake had flaking on both sides. Was very noticeable. The side intake had clear coat chipping and peeling and was in poor shape.

And ain't this great?? Always garaged, cannot find a chip. Just a giant crack. New seals on order, insurance covered it 100%.

Love it, don't care what you did... just like to see a thread with colors

Paint match is pretty close considering it's from a can. I never got lucky when can/color/match is involved - on anything I've ever tried to touch-up :/

Not bad, not bad!

Is that a Datsun under the pipe pile? You forgot to install the wire mesh grill protecters on the floor too!

I may actually have those darn things presentable!

That, my friend, is a 1964 MG Midget MKII. 1098cc dual carb. Total refurb project.

Tim, according to the grill that's actually a '64 Austin Healey Sprite MKII. Same basic car, mainly trim changes. Sprite is more desirable too. ;)

Trunk badge says MG and the VIN confirms that. Must be the wrong grill sadly.

Yeah, grill may have been swapped at some point. Happened a lot. I was going to mention checking the VIN. H-AN for Healey and G-AN for MG. Nothing sad about it, very cool and fun car either way.
