Mine is a 2012...so many upgrades. Earlier ones had crappy interior that scratched easily. Those were mostly replaced by warranty (hmmmm sounds like a familiar statement around here ;o)). Mine is nothing super fancy, but it is durable and comfortable - important in a knock around car. I travelled 12 hours one day while doing the BRP...no butt hurt here! It is also the first year with a timing chain - that is what sold me...no more timing belt jobs!!!!

If you were going up a long hill you needed a running start and if someone cut you off you now we're stuck doing less then the speed limit for the rest of the hill and don't even think about turning the AC on. Basically we took my Mustang GT any where we went.
I dated a girl with an '87 Excel back in the early 90's. Yeah, they were cheap, but with the 5 speed, it was a bit zippy. I did so much work on that darn car for her...it was essentially a Mitsubishi under the covers....actually not too bad a car (said with chagrin ). She actually gave it to me in exchange for doing the work to fix up a '71 super beetle for her. Ah - now going from working on 914s and the type IV to a super b with a type I...that was painful....
