It was similarly a black on black 911 Turbo in a car magazine in the 70s that got me kick-started (about age 7). After that I had to have every Porsche made by Tomica Pocket Cars (if anybody remembers those)

I even tried to imitate the funky air cooled engine sound when playing with them.

The OP pic looks fine on my iPad. On my Mac it's upside down.

I always was, and always will be, a Ferrari man. 328GTS FTW!!!

For me it was a mix, the Carrera GT concept was featured in a 2002 video game that I played a lot as a (younger) youngster, I thought it was the best sounding and best looking car in the world. A few years later I was out with a birthday party when about 12 and a silver 986 showed up (I am a sucker for silver!) at the gas station we were at, even then the car was oldish, but I remember every one of our heads turning and watching the owner fill it up on the right front fender! The 911 never drew me in, the way Porsche's amazing 2 seaters have.

For me, I was a passenger in the opening car (first run to make sure that everything is in place on the course) of a hillclimb close to where I lived. It was a 993 TT.

Still remember the feeling, I wish I could afford such a car

Seeing the Autolite sticker in the late 60's, remember it like it was yesterday. No more beautiful form than the GT40..............

High School

I was in high school in the early 70's, every kid wanted a Camaro, Mustang or Corvette. While in our junior year my best friend's dad bought him a 911 and we spent the last of his junior and all senior year riding in that car...and that did it for me.

1977 - a ride in Dad's friend's brand new 911 through the Black Forest.

Car and Driver May, 1986... Article about the 959. Nothing came close at the time! Funny how that car had so much we still only have as upgrades now....
