What the hell is this sound coming out of my Exhaust Pipe or there abouts?

Does the noise go away when you rev the engine?

It's coming from the gearbox caused by a broken 2nd gear tooth.

And off to the bank we go.

What's with porsches and second? I know of old 911s boxsters and everything Inbetween with second gear issues.

How does second gear manage to make a noise when you're stationary, and presumably in neutral???

Because while I was saving up for a new gear box I was still driving the car and now it has escalated. When I apply the clutch the noise dissapears. Thank god it's not the engine.

Hope the new trans doesn't set you back too far.

I remember the rev limiter thread that lead to this problem. Sorry it got worse.

I'm still not a %100 sure if that's the reason why the 2nd gear tooth broke off. It seems odd to me that a tooth could come off this way.

There's an English guy on Ebay who sells 2nd hand gear boxes real cheap. It's the labor that's going to cost $$$.
