One thing always leads to another

Well what started off as a cleaning and painting of my calipers on my 03 ended up being one thing after the other. It started with my tires once removed I found nails in one rear and one front always convenient so 4 new tires. Once I had those off I realized my rotors and my pads were worn down past needing to be replaced. So 4 new rotors, wear sensors and 4 sets of brake pads later that was taken care of. Now I finally get to paint my calipers. That turned out to be the least expensive part funny how that works with these cars. For good measure I figured I might as well throw in some new wheel caps since I was hemorrhaging cash anyway. :ah:



Here is the final result came out fairly well.

Looks good! Did you do the painting with the calipers on the car?

I did paint them on the car. Should have removed them and done the break fluid flush. Just one more thing to do over the winter.

Looks great! love the rims, I like those rims so much more than my turbo twists.

I took mine off to paint them because I also replaced the lines with stainless steel braided lines... ugggghhh getting the old lines off was very tough, and getting the ones one due to all the dribbling of brake fluid was tough was well. I think the easiest connection to break/make was the hard line at the back of the caliper so if you were painting and not replacing the brake lines it would not be so bad...

I only focused on the faces on my calipers, not realizing that the bottoms are very visible due to the way they are on the car. Luckily some paint did make it down there and they look decent...

If they ever need a touchup I am doing it on the car...

They look like oem Porsche 17" wheels.

Was the Porsche lettering applied after painting or was it masked prior to?

Rims were stock when I bought the car in 09. They are 17 inch rims seems I read someplace that was an upgrade of some kind from Porsche.

I beieve they are factory 17" SII rims, available as an option on the '03 and '04 cars. I have a set on my '99.

I noticed a spot..... Oh wait, that is drool on my iPad. Nice job. It looks great.
