Replacement Battery for 2006 Boxster?
Hello all,
The battery on my 2006 Boxster will no longer hold a charge, so looks like it's time for a replacement.
Any suggestions on a replacement battery? Needn't be worlds most expensive, just works well and fits. Would like to buy online if possible.
Also, apart from connection at the terminals, any special considerations when replacing the battery?

If that's the original battery, you deff got your money's worth.
I've had good luck w/ Interstate but they're not much cheaper than a Porsche original battery. Think several ppl have bought cheap batteries from Wally World and have been satisfied.
These batteries need to have a vent nozzle on them so you can hook the vent tube up.

Wally World. Very few companies make batteries, so it'll be ok. I've had my Energizer for 2 years now with no problem.
Mind you, I put a maintainer (CTEK) on it whenever it's going to sit for a while, including all winter.

When a battery goes out, its usually at a bad time and everyone is closed. Three times this year including my car where I just walk in Wally world buy the right size and I'm on my way. 24-7! If you have to take it back, in two of those cases, they are open 24-7. Warranty is as good as any.

I bought an Exide AGM battery because they work better than lead/acid batteries in the cold climate where I live. Not cheap though. Any auto parts store or large chain store should have a battery that will work.
Batteries are easy to change in Boxsters, with 2 warnings: don't close the hood with the battery removed or disconnected, and be sure you have the radio code. It's not necessary to re-program the radio on my 2003, but it might be on a 2006. Anyone?

I ended up with an Everstart Maxx battery from Wallyworld. It was the only place open, and it's been working great.

The 2005-8 uses the Becker CDR24, which I believe is also on the MOST system like the CDR23 in the 2003-4 models.

So, I assume that means you don't have to re-program the radio in a 2006 (what's the "MOST system?")?

I didn't have to program the radio on my '06, you may have to set the window home position though. The PSM light may also come on, but it will clear after being driven for a bit.

Really, you don't know what the MOST system is? you have been on this forum for 2 years. Do a quick search and you will get gobs of info
MOST is a fiber optic system for the Audio system. They started using it in 2003. If you don't have BOSE, a factory amp or CD changer, the MOST system is not used at all. With these cars (2003+), you don't have to worry about a radio code as it checks with the immobiliser every time you start the car. You will need to reset the windows and maybe the E-gas as well

Of course I know what it is, I just wanted to see if you did  !
Don't be patronizing! Just because I've been on this forum for 1 year and 10 months (not 2 years yet) doesn't necessarily mean I've ever seen the term used before. Besides, I really don't care what it is enough to do a search, especially when you used the term, and (sort of) explained it. I have a Bose, but I don't have to enter a radio code or reset any windows or E gas after I disconnect the battery.

+1 for Interstate
I run interstate in all my vehicles, including my snow plow truck which takes two of them. Unless you want to get exotic, I'd say Interstate is the way to go. The one in my Boxster has been there for six years (on a battery tender in the winter) and works fine.

I didn't have to reprogram my radio either but I used a trickle charger when swapping. Guess that was a waste of time. Same scenario as you with the PSM light and windows.
