Prepainted Rear Spoilers for 986

FYI- I saw these today on Suncoast's web site. They are prepainted in Guards Red, Artic Silver, Speed Yellow, Seal Grey, Black, White, Arena Red Burgundy and Zanzibar for $300.

My opinion, I don't like the rear spoilers on a boxster

Every car should have a handle for opening the trunk lid.

if you leave the factory spoiler in the upright position it looks kind of cool.

Why not something like this? Looks pretty cool.

Jim, that spoiler looks nicer than the factory 986 spoiler, but I'm guessing it doesn't have nearly the downforce pressure that the solid one does.

Fiddling with aerodynamics on our cars seems to be flirting with disaster in my mind. I think I'll leave my factory spoiler on.

Besides, where would I affix the MACH SCHNELL sticker on this one anyway?

And there you have it. My logic makes all kinds of sense to me.

Well, it's a spoiler not a "wing" so actually it doesn't generate any downforce. All it does is disturb airflow over the rear of the car which reduces rear lift--at the expense of increased drag.

An aftermarket wing like that one on eBay would not be as effective as the stock spoiler, but I'm not sure how much it matters unless you're driving at extremely-illegal speeds. I still abhor it as a modification though.

I've argued this before on here--that most wings you see for the boxster are detrimental if anything and why would one want to disturb a perfectly good car?
