Traded it off yesterday

Well, I'm no longer a Boxster owner. 3 years ago we drove from St. Louis to Chicago to pick up an '02 S that was everything I was looking for: color, options, mileage, clean inspection, etc. I drove it as often as possible, and loved every minute of it. No major mechanical work ever needed to be done, but did have to replace the top, changed the stereo to double DIN, backup camera, new PORSCHE letters with the 981 Boxster S script on the rear deck lid, replaced the passenger window regulator, brakes, fluids, all regular wear and tear or cosmetic changes.

That car was the most idiosyncratic, personality-laden car i've ever owned, and I loved every second of it.

But my wife needed to trade in her '08 Lexus ES350, and had her heart set on a fully loaded 2015 BWM 435i xDrive convertible with the M Sport package. Her car had been in a wreck several years ago, and even though it was put back together by the dealership in perfect condition, the trade in hit was too much for her, so I tossed in the Boxster so she could afford it. I guess that proved to her that I actually DO love her more than the car, but it was a tough choice.

We've already agreed that I'll get another one someday soon, so I will be back, but for now I miss it already. While the new car is nice, and does make more sense for our 4 person family and is quite a bit faster than my S, it has no soul at all and you don't feel the speed, you just see it on the speedo.

Oh well, what's done is done. Considering how long it took me to find exactly what I wanted last time, I guess I'd better get shopping for the next one! :)

well I guess you get the remote control forever. like forever ever.

Although I would have required burning of all her sweat pants too.

I would have tried to sell off one of the kids before the Boxster. Just sayin'. :)

Sorry that you had to sell it and hope that you find a way back sooner than later!

I get the happy wife happy life.

For me there would have to be another Porsche sports car in the cards before I'd let the Boxster go. Without that you are only going to get the keys out of my cold dead hands or if my wife's life depended on it.
