2003 S Springs and Struts - Fit a '99?

Just what the title says. I have a 1999 non-S Tiptronic with very tired struts. Have a chance to pick up a set of OEM Springs and Struts from a 2003 Boxster S that were pulled off a non-wrecked vehicle with very low miles.

Compatible?

Okay, I'll answer my own question, but if anyone disagrees with me, please let me know! :o

Every parts site that I searched seems to indicate that the struts and springs are compatible across all years/models of the 986 Boxster. Not compatible would be parts suspension from a 987.

The springs/struts I'm getting were pulled of a 2003 Boxster S with approximately 3500 miles. They were replaced with aftermarket parts. The OEM springs and struts went into a box and have been in garaged storage ever since.

I'm replacing all the suspension components, front and rear, (control arms, tie rods, drop links, sway bar bushings, etc) at the same time. Should ride like a completely different car.

Your springs are made for your car so don't replace them. The newer struts should be a upgrade so use them.

Really? I guess I had assumed the S springs would be an upgrade. And there is also the fact that my stock springs have 125k on them and the ones from the S only have 3k.

The S springs should be stiffer than your base springs and if the S had a tiptronic, even stiffer. Do you know the paint codes on both sets of springs and struts?

Well I would need to pull the wheels off to see the springs on my 99, but I can tell you the 2003 paint stripes are:

2 springs with one orange stripe by itself and then a blue and white stripe together. Then 2 more springs with an orange stripe by itself and then a purple and green stripe together.
