Top is dead

last year I had to replace a parking brake switch that wouldn't allow the top to come down. Now after not having lowered the top in months, the top down button is dead again.
any one experience similar problem?

my top button on the dash went out a couple of months ago. I pried off the assembly with a butter knife carefully, then mashed it real hard and it worked, so I know the top was working fine and the handbrake sensor was fine too. I bought another rocker switch and it took five minutes to replace it. This might be your problem.

Also, check your fuse. Could be that too.

The Big white fuse? or is there a seperate fuse crammed in there with all the others under the panel kick panel?

I am not sure where the top motor fuse is located. I'll look in my big repair manual and see if I can find it for you. It's 3 am right now and I'm finally tired so I'll check it for you tomorrow or someone else will post it for you.

the microswitch where the top latches to the windshield frame can also be the culprit. it's the switch that makes the windows drop when you unlatch the top. it also keeps the top motor from engaging if the top is latched shut.
