And the search begins...

Well I posted this thread last night, but it seems to have been deleted so I'll post it again.

I have decided to begin my search for the perfect Box. After debating and comparing different cars for quite some time now, I finally decided this is what I want. I'm not looking to buy until after I graduate, October or November, but thought what better time to start looking for a convertible than during the spring/summer months. My budget is ~$25K but I would like to stay closer to the 22K mark and would like something 2000 or newer in black, white or speed yellow.

Now for the couple questions that I have.

1) What options are desirable and which ones should I try to stay away from?
2) What are the problem areas that I should look at when I look at a car?
3) What things should I know before beginning my search?

I'm really excited about the addition of a Boxster to my P-car collection. I will also be adding an 89 944 S2 before the summer is out :D

Thanks in advance.

Look for a 2000 S - 2003S with the lowest miles possible.

look into hiring an auto broker who probably has access to the Manheim
Porsche dealer auctions (not open to the public).

If you will be out of cash after $25K I would suggest making sure it comes
with HID or "Litronics" and 18 wheels. These two options can easily cost $3,000.
The option I like most on my Boxster is the premium audio package.
Its really the only convertible I've ridden in that sound excellent in with the top down.
Some people who are warm weather wimps think heated seats are a must have.
I thik an aero kit is a must have (GT3 front bumper and side skirting make all the difference in the word). $1,700 not including paint, factory parts).

here's a nice one with GT3 front bumper, side skirting and 18" Carrera 5 spokes

Here's a stock box with out HID (see the orange on the headlights?) 17" wheels and no aero. A big difference in looks for $5k in improvements.

re: missing posts - I emailed BRUCELEE as there are posts that I left (and responses) as well as a thread that I started that just disappeared.

re: the car - I agree, the 986 looks sportier with a body kit and really nice with a hardtop!
