Thank You!!!

I have been around here for awhile, drinking in the wisdom of this fine group!! With your help I have purchased my first Boxster. It is 2000 S, with 97,000 Km on the clock. She had a very clean PPI, and a laser alignment, and oil change were done on the car this morning. The previous owner split the cost of that, as part of the sale price.
The oil filter didn't have a speck of debris, so I will be taking her in for clutch and IMS in the not to distant future. Everything works fine, except the passenger side window squeaks when it goes up and down.
Thank you all for the insight and information!! It helped me buy what I think is a good car! Of course it is rainning here today, so I can't take any pics. Here is 1, and I will post more when the sun is shinning!!

Nice! Those are my favorite wheels from the factory on these cars...maybe a little biased since I have them as well, but I think they just flow perfectly with the car.

Looks great.

Glad you found some value here. I think some of us were worried you were never going to find a ride. Congrats!

Thanks!! I think I let some of the negative talk, about IMS, and the one bad PPI scare me into looking for a car without a single flaw! In the end I got what I think is a really good car, at what I think was a pretty good price. Managed to get an S and still have more than enough money for clutch and IMS, over the winter.
:)

Very nice! Patience & persistence paid off.
Enjoy your new ride.

Blue top, 18 inches, and litronics, very very pretty.

Very nice car!!!!! Pics can be deceiving but the blue finish looks great.

I am the last guy to suggest doing this that these and those "Just to Be Safe" but if it were me, in addition to the IMS and other items you mentioned, Have the Water Pump Replaced with an OEM or Raby Unit if he still sells them...........

Forgot to mention, Buy this at your local Autozone:

Liquid Wrench/Silicone spray lubricant (M9-14) | Lubricant/Grease | AutoZone.com

Spray it into the front and rear window guide uprights. If that doesn't do it clean out the track after removing the door panels, then spray the lubricant in those tracks, pretty easy really:

Thanks!! I will give that a go this weekend, along with a wash and wax!

Congrats. Would you mind sharing the asking price from the seller? No need to disclose the price you actually paid. Boxster S prices seem to be ticking up lately, am wondering if this applies in Canada too.
p.s.
Try Griots Garage leather cleaner or 1Z leather cleaner. These work remarkable well on 986 leather which has more of a traditional finishing than the 987 leather.

Thanks!! I don't mind sharing at all. He orginally listed the car at $16900. Then relisted at $15000. I have seen Boxster S asking prices up here anywhere from around $15000 to as much as $21000!! BTW, I paid significantly less than $15K for the car. He turned out to be a very motivated seller!
:)

What is holding that cup holder up?

If its just tape, I'd be weary of putting a drink in there. Last thing you need is to have to clean up a puddle of pepsi in your new car.

mikeman 09-11-2014 11:53 AM

ooh that's sexy :)

Perfectlap 09-11-2014 01:13 PM

btw, get the latest coolant cap if this wasn't already done. And don't flush the coolant without replacing the coolant tank, they get brittle with age and the flush job could split it open within a few months.

It is screwed into the dash. I'm going to remove it, and see what kind of damage is under there.

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't thought of that.

Wow, mega clean find! the blue on blue is a particularly beautiful look on the Boxster. It still is, even on the 2014 models.
Congrats!

Jake, I don't think this car has Litronics...

It does, however look EXACTLY like mine, except I have the Savannah interior...I Love the Metropol top with the Ocean Blue Metallic color...nice car buddy!

The washers threw me off, did not know they fitted those to the halogen lights. De ambered regardless. Saw a nice box on the road yesterday blue with blue top, I bet it's a great combo on the 981 as well.

I took her out for a good long drive today. And the car developed a little bit of a whine. I think it might be the water pump. In she goes on Monday to have a look.

Congrats...blue on blue looks fantastic!:D

Nice touch for a Canadian car, a maple leaf on the floor mat.

Thanks for the coolant cap tip!! a friend and I put in a water pump this weekend, and after we were done, the car seemed to be losing fluid, but I couldn't find a leak. Put on a new cap, and everything seems fine now.
