Ferrari 308 GTS- 80s interior and maintenance nightmare.
911SC- Still love these cars but wanted modern conveniences and safety.
996 Turbo - Just too much car, too heavy, I don't want to go 200mph.
Z4M- fun, lotta motor, tail happy, styling meh.
C5 Corvette- Afraid I would be mistaken for a porn director.
S2000- fun car, awesome gearbox, styling meh.
Boxster S- Drove a few. I would have bought one If I could find one that wasn't thrashed.

After two months of looking and test drives, I settled on a Guards Red, 2.5L, one owner cream puff. I figured I'd drive her for a year for kicks and trade her for something else along the way. Nine years later and we are still together.

While I agree on the Corvette comment being humorous, just remember that stereotypes cut both ways. The porn director likely could be snickering to himself watching you get into the hairdresser's car......:eek:

And no, I do not have a Corvette, I have a Miata........Damn!!!

Would love to have a BMW Z8.Such a beautiful design. Then there's the NSX. Both out of my price range and I wanted something I could work on. Seriously looked at Honda 2000S but hard to find a good one. It was too small as was a Miata. I'M 6'3 235. Solstice and Skye were interesting coupes but my wife said she would divorce me if I got one. A 2000 Boxster was at the local Porsche dealer as a trade in. Just sat in it and listened to the engine and was hooked. A guy trading in a Miata beat me to it. Looked around on-line and found a low mileage 2002S in Texas. Always liked Porsche 911's but the mid engine had greater appeal. Absolutely no regrets.

Test drove a Z4M, MB slk350, and didnt think I could fit in a s2000 after jumping in a Soltice. Z4 M was fast but settled on my first Boxster s 05. Before my second Box, I considered the G8 gt!! Talk about a sleeper. That car would hurt beemers feelings at stop lights. But the price on those are still sky high. Now with the new Chevy SS on the market, lets see if the price holds. Beautiful car too.

Gm also made a Gxp in this model putting out 400 hp that was available with a manual tranny also. Yeah that car is still on my list.
Some lucky guys cashed in on the discounts Gm was giving right before they went out of business.

I tend to agree but for whatever it is worth, we tend to choose our herds. I really liked the C5 Corvette and if I found the right car I might have bought it. I did have a look at a rare 1991 C4 ZR-1 with very low miles. I sat in the car and the price was right but... just couldn't do it.

Miata-Yes, the top went down and it was a very competent vehicle, but at the end of the day it was just an appliance. Emotionless.
Corvette-Fun car, but the used ones I test-drove were plasticky rattle traps on the inside, and drove like trying to do brain surgery with a pickaxe. No subtlety or precision feel. They also seem have homing devices that keep drawing them to trailer houses.
S2000-See Miata.
Z350-Decent car, but nothing terribly special to look at or drive. Just didn't do anything for me. Also, still can't quite get over the chest hair images of the 70s Z cars.

In the end, the Boxster just drew me in emotionally in looks, feel, and performance. Doesn't hurt that I was a 911 admirer since childhood.

Still smile like a lunatic every time I look at it or drive it, so I guess it was the right choice.
