CV Joints

Hey all....mechanical noob here. CV's. Mine need to be replaced - question is - how quickly does that need done? I'd rather not do further damage or get stranded somewhere - but I still want to drive the car while my mechanic finds some time for me. Thoughts on timeframe? Thanks!

Are the CV's themselves pooched, or just the boots?
Boots aren't super critical unless they're slinging grease all over; just don't drive in the rain if you can avoid it.
If the CV's themselves are noisy, I'd drive it gently and as little as possible so you don't have one let go when you're out and about before you can get into the shop.

It's got a nice squeek going over bumps and such...although that could be the control arm, which has a bit of extra play. Just don't want to damage anything. Mechanic says don't worry - but don't worry to him may differ from don't worry to me.

Knowing your mechanic, just enjoy your car.
Self destructing CV's would sound like like you were crushing ball bearings in a food grinder.

Which every Boxster owner here might think it's their IMS and have a heart attack!

So far so good. That's why I drive it like I just knocked over a liquor store.

I noticed! My little 2.7 Tip had a hard time just keeping your 3.2 manual in sight! Fortunately it was my turnoff, so saved some face by not completely losing you.
