replace rear window

The rear window in my '98 broke as I was lowering top yesterday. When I researched threads there were suggestions to replace it for about $300, but not sure if that is just part or part + labor. Also, some suggested replace the entire top. Any guidance is appreciated.

You can have the window replaced and the total cost is in the $300-450 range, depending on who does it.

One caveat! I have seen some TERRIBLE jobs done on these windows, so choose your installer wisely!

Good luck!

Just get the glass window so you never have to worry about it

Agree with Black Hawk. I'm going through the same thing Better off getting a new top with the glass and never have to worry about it again. If you sell it can be a selling point as this seems to be a constant issue. I purchased my top and will have it installed in April or May (Weather here sucks) Good luck ...

Check with Dumont LTD/Porsche Service in OKC. They could probably give you a quote for glass or plastic.

Thanks, I'll call Dumont tomorrow. The dealership referred me to Trimworld who charges $475 for installing a plastic window, which is high compared to others who have posted replies. I'll keep checking. My top seems to be in good shape. But @ $475, it may be worth replacing the top.

Do I need a glass window? I keep the top down most of the time. I assume it will be up more when it is 95+ this summer. I have my Expedition for rain and snow, so the Boxster can stay in the garage.

You will have to define, need! But, the glass window is GREAT IHMO.

Dumont referred me to Trimworld. A local shop I've used for upholstery with experience w/ Boxster quoted $400. Looks like I'm stuck w/ replacement cost well over what most of you experience.
