Centre Console Question

Okay, probably a dumb question - but - if I remove my centre console to paint it, is the car still driveable while it's out? (I have the tip transmission). With the console out - you have to remove the padded arm wrest that also has an alarm attached to it, so assume that would cause an issue?
The weather is so nice, don't want to be out and about without my box, but also getting impatient to paint the console now that I've got the doors done. Thanks.

Thanks Red. Appreciate that. When I searched for centre console, there were about a zillion responses. Sometimes it's faster to just ask. Thanks again.
