I was stuck in dead stop highway traffic on a perfect summer day.

Guy who looks just like Samuel L. Jackson pulls up next to me in a nice car.

He turns his head in my direction, looks the car up and down:

"aw hell Yeah! Hell mother F#I@$* yeah!!! Now that's what I'm mother F#@$* talkin' about! .....(short pause)... F#@$* yeah."

:D how exactly do you respond to that? LOL.

We need more people like him in the world!

A little off topic, but talking about Samuel Jackson, have you heard this? Every time I listen to it I laugh until tears are running down my face and my ribs hurt.

I don't say thanks. I've done nothing to deserve that -- it was the Porsche designers and engineers. So, I just say "I sure do have fun in it!" and leave it at that.
you have to take care of it for it to look good, just like everything in life including ourselves

Good point. Another way to look at it is that you are being complimented on your choice of car, in which case a thank-you is certainly warranted. Actually, a thank-you is warranted anytime you are paid a compliment. It seems that manners are all too often going the way of the dodo bird these days.

And on that topic - the proper response to "thank-you" is "you're welcome" - not "uh-huh" or "no problem"(unless they say "gracias" in which case "de nada" is perfectly acceptable, although "mucho gusto" is certainly a more gracious answer.

You're welcome.
