987.1 large single-row IMS bearing

Guys, apologies if this has been covered to death.

Is there a definitive date for when the larger IMS bearing was introduced in the 987?

I think it was some time in 2005. Would it be correct to assume that any 987 manufactured in 2006 has the large single-row bearing?

Thanks.

It has been, and "search" is your friend when you need information.

That said, 2005 was a transitional year, some cars came with the oversized bearings, others did not. And there is no way of telling which one is in a given car without taking it apart to look. In 2006, all cars had them. Replacement engines installed after 2004 should also be suspect.
