just sold my baby today

i just sold my 99 boxster today. I bought it in August for $16800 and sold it today for $17800. Yeah i made money but i feel like crap. i feel like that was one of the worst decisions that ive made in a long time. I miss her so much. not sure as to what im gonna get now, but it has to be a european car that has somewhat good handling and some power.

:ah:

oh and take it from someone thats done it, dont sell you boxster. keep it as long as you can. There is no substitute.

Hi,

You can always buy another one, maybe an 'S' or later model. Good Luck!...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

i sold it because the plastic window got a tare in it and i didnt want to buy a new top. I have the complete tool kit that i bought for it a while back if any one wants to buy it from me. also the clear side markers.

This is a $350 repair. Strange reason to sell the car, no?

Would you consider the cayman S? Assuming if you will, that when you say you want power and handling, you'd be open to a hardtop. As much as I love my Boxster, I would have been a Cayman customer in a heartbeat if the price was right (I love having a convertible, but I'm completely blown away by the Cayman's growl and grip!!!). That being said, unless hospitals start paying residents like real doctors and not pond scum, I'll be (gladly) hanging on to my Boxster for a lotta fun-filled years!!!

Have fun discovering your next four-wheeled rocket!!!!

Maybe you should start playing the role of a "resident" on the hit series "Grays Anatomy". :)

Brucelee 03-09-2006 04:13 PM

How much does Pond Scum make, anyway?

;)

mach schnell 03-09-2006 04:24 PM

I actually used to joke that I was going to med school strictly to play a doctor on TV - life would great if we're as it's depicted on Gray's Anatomy - I think in the 70's all that sex was taking place in hospitals!!!!

Pond scum (if you take into account the 80+ hrs/week) make a little more an hour than your friendly golden arches employee - but we usually get free scrubs, at least one free meal when on call and a pager!!!

During my obsessive researching prior to purchasing my 986, I read a quote from a road test that said something like, "sure, there are other cars within this price range, just don't try to convince yourself that you'll be getting something "just as good"."

I think that's a pretty powerful and true statement.

What should you get? If I were in your situation, I would look for a used 911 (circa 1999+). There are some pretty reasonable deals out there. I love my 986, but I'll probably upgrade to a used 911 for more leg room. And I guess the Hp increase would be okay... :D

docdyh 03-09-2006 05:41 PM

wow, really porsheguy..i have tear in my window but the thought of selling never crossed my mind...anyhow, sorry about your loss...

FYI- the 987 has more leg room than the 986! :)

I know, I know. But there's just no denying how hot the 996 is.
