Affirmative

The important part is having the top down.....Sometimes that means the air is blowing full blast and other times the windows are up heated seats on high and heat blowing full blast. If the top is down, it's all good!

That's why God created A/C, duh!

I fixed my not-so-cold A/C the other day with a simple recharge...I thought you guys were crazy, but I tried the top-down A/C driving...it was low 90's here in the Carolinas and with my windows up, it was quite pleasurable in the cockpit...

That would be a YES! for me. After all, if the top was up, I would have the A/C on anyway.....

No; how default to off??

With top down I don't use A/C.
Is there a way to leave the A/C off by default? It gets tedious to turn the heater/AC to "oFF" every time I start the car. (2000 Boxster S; the manual is silent on this point.)

well, you can turn the "AC" off by pushing the AC button (little snowflake). the fan will will still blow, but the compressor won't engage. it should stay in that mode until you hit that button again.

It is a good idea to run the AC compressor a bit, keeps it lubricated

Yep I run the AC with the top down. I find the blistering hot heater and ice cold AC impressive in this car, dont think Ive ever experienced a better climate system.

Thanks, kiyakubuke. After pushing the snowflake button, the AC indeed stays off between engine starts.
