torque specs for rear suspension?
I'm trying to track down a clunk in the rear of my 2000 2.7. It rattles loudly over bumps if there is no load on the rear end (i.e if I put the clutch in, let up on the gas, or don't have the brakes on it rattles over bumps. If it's rattling and I apply the brake or accellerate slightly the rattle stops).
Anyhow, I thought I'd swap the control arms left/right to see if the noise follows the arm. This is primarily on the driver's side, so if it starts rattling on the passenger side after swap, I know what's going on. What are the values to torque the bolts to? Thanks! Mark. PS - any other tips on swapping these would be helpful. I don't have a Bentley's for this car, so I'm assuming I can just lift it up, remove the wheels, remove the parts and nothing else special. |
most, including myself have replaced the lower control arms.
per Bentley manual, page 42-10 trailing arm to; to body = 160Nm/118 ft-lb (M14 x 1.5) to control arm =160Nm/118ft-lb (M14 x 1.5) |

Does it have to be under load or anything (like on a BMW) when torquing, or just resting on the ground? mark. |
bentley manual states with weight of the car...
