Why have dealer replace top?

I noticed several people had the dealer replace their tops? Don't the dealers sub them out to upholstery shops and add a mark-up. I checked with my two local dealers and neither of them actually replace the top in the service dept. They even told me which shops they use...just wondering..

Hey Doc

Who do they use?? I know were in the same area. Stoddard didn't give me that info. I knew it wouldn't be them actually doing it..

My mechanic works at a local dealership and replaces tops all the time. I'm not sure why some dealers job it out.
