QUICK QUESTION! catbypass

I live in California.
Has anyone installed secondary catbypass onto their 986 and still passed emissions test in california??

I was told yesterday or day before by another CA member you cannot. Unless they are familiar with these cars there's no way to know. It does not change any exhaust parameters. Just a little growl and a few HP and about 30lbs lighter.

I live in San Diego, and have had secondary cat bypass pipes installed for years. I've passed smog twice (4 years)

The output is waay below the allowable limits. As for the visual, the smog techs have no idea what they are looking at with a Boxster. I had one shop open the trunk, looking for the vacuum lines

The typical smog shop will not catch it if your car blows clean. If you get pulled into one of those random roadside CHP inspections, those guys know exactly what to look for and you will get dinged. They are specifically looking for modded cats, defeated SAI, chips, and modded intake that violate CARB rules. They are generally nice about it but your VIN will be forever marked as "CARB violation, possible street racer".

Know thy Smog station. The less familiar with Porsche the better :-)

I have the deletes, but haven't yet needed a smog. As mentioned, i'm expecting that a clean blow = pass by my guy...

Random CHP checks? Sweet Jesus, could the CHP be anymore useless? Apparently it's "voluntary":
