Unknown Connector?

Yesterday I removed my center and dashboard consoles for a paint project and noticed I have an extra connector which is not connected to anything (see pictures bellow). Any idea what this is for (I have a 2001 Boxster S)?

This is the phone accessory plug. It provides both constant power and switched power. I'm using it in my 04 to provide switched power for my new head unit.

Can be very useful indeed, I might be using it one day to provide power to an iPhone dock.
