OBC Hack in a 01S

I have all my parts, and a question came up in my head. I see the ground wire is from pin 1 of the connector (BMW) to instrument ground. Pins 2 , 3 , 4 and 5 go to the instrument cluster to provide the signal for the different functions. Basicly it is just a toggle. My question to anyone who has done this hack is I never see a wire coming from pin 1 of the OBC 4 stalk assembly going to ground ?

In the Pelican article I see a wire that has been taped over and is shorter than the rest and this goes to ground but it is not in pin 1 of the connector ???

LIke I said I have my harness finished and ready to install but this one point is bugging me...anyone shed any light on the subject ??

THanks
Dwight

Yeah, their photos are normally great and a big help, but the harness photo was a little confusing.

If you read carefully, it says the following in the article: "Attach a ground eyelet on the end of this wire and then place into slot 1 of the five pin connector"

That is what i did, as far as i remember :o
