I have a 987.1 Base C and I have zero IMS worries. My 02 Boxster S does give me a bit of worry...but not my Cayman.

Both my local Porsche Dealer/Service Center and my local Indy have never seen one single 987.1 IMS failure. Ever.

I actually got the accident car (clean title) I mentioned earlier and squeezed in to my range. I have the pre-repair pictures, full repair invoice, and I talked to the body shop owner. I had a good independent PPI (who also had these records) and he confirmed it was all cosmetic.

I figured I paid about $7-8K less than I would have otherwise, and even if I sell the car for $7-8K less, it's still even. More likely due to depreciation I will sell the car for less of an accident discount than I received.

Anyways, it's a hell of a car and I thank my lucky stars I was able to buy one every time I get in it! :dance:
