How to tell if my Boxster has a PSE exhaust?

Hi, my newly purchased 2001 Boxster has what appears to be PSE style tail pipes. I am wondering if the whole exhaust system is PSE. It sure sounds sweet and throaty to me. What are the identifiers of a PSE exhaust system please? thanks

Congrats on your purchase. I also have a 2001, and am a former Miata owner ('99, "#4" survivor). You have a PSE if the tailpipes look like the nose of a Klingon Battlecruiser, out of which torpedoes are fired. See Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

What Auf means is there are little decorative holes on the face of the tailpipes. There are also two bypass pipes feeding the tailpipes and bypassing the muffler, which gives it that "sport sound" that someone paid big bucks to add to the car from Porsche.

OK, looks like that is what I got then. It looks Klingon to me. The prior owner put 3 piece 18" bling wheels on it too. Going to swap them for 17" turbo twists once I wear down the rubber.

thanks!

Or I might be thinking of the Bird of Prey. Anyway, here's a pic of a 986 (early) PSE on my buddy's car:

Looks like there are a lot of us ex-Miata guys with Boxsters around

I am sure we all feel like we 'upgraded' to the Box from the M...funny that, since my M was an upgrade from my old 914....
