Rear Fog lights are only installed on the drivers side of the car .
So in fog you can tell the position of the car in front , and to differentiate them from brake lights . ( it has been this way since before cars started having 3rd brake lights fitted)
There are many people that try changing bulbs etc before asking for advice to get their 2nd fog light working as they think there must be a problem with their car .

ha ok! I didn't even know the boxes had rear fogs (another hidden feature!)... anyway I had an audi with rear fogs and I knew that only one of them light up .
