passenger airbag deactivation kit 05 boxster
Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this - I just purchased an 05 Boxster as left over inventory from a soCal dealer and had the passenger airbag deactivation kit installed. Had searched the web before hand to learn about the kit and found a variety of opinions, experiences, etc. And, of course, even got conflicting info from 2 different local Porsche dealers before having installed. I was under the impression that labor was included in the purchase of the kit - however, the majority of the almost $600 i paid was labor. Did I get shafted? Anyone have it buy it and have it installed in soCal and only pay for parts? Thanks.

It sounds a bit pricey - but then I think everything on a Porsche is a bit pricey. What does the kit entail? I'm assuming that it provides some sort of lock-out key or something more than just a program change to cover that $600.00. |
This is what the kit includes:

actually for the 05 987 the kit is simply the key switch inside the passenger side and the whatever reprogramming (in addition to a little light on the console near the parking brake that indicates the air bag is off.
Again, I hoping to find anyone else with an 05 who had the kit installed after purchasing the car and determine did they only pay for the kit (roughly $250) -labor being included in that price - or did they pay another $300 for additional labor charges. thanks |
