Window drop issue cured, now locking issues instead

Hi, just replaced the drivers side door lock assembly. This was done due to the window didnt drop the few centimeters needed when opening the door. Really easy job once I figured out how to disconnect the outer handle from the lock mechanism.
Now the unit is replced by another second hand part. Not sure what MY the part came from. Mine is a 2000. It is also a US car and the replacement part is ROW
Issue now is that I cant lock the door anymore. Neither with the key in door or by remote
Do I need to have the parts paired together or have I missed something else?

Hmmm, cup of coffe cured half the problem as usual
Found out that the mechanical part from the key not was inserted proberly in the door lock mechanism.
Now the drivers door can be locked with key.
Passenger door and remote function still dosnt work properly.
So the question is still valid, does a new door lock need some kind of pairing with the rest of the car

SpongeB - Would you mind sharing your process of replacing the handle? I have the same confused-window issue as you described. Took the interior door panel off this weekend and was just one giant WTF on next steps. I see no reasonable method to get to the exterior handle or door latch mechanism within the door.

I wish I could add something on your synching issue. I've got nothing. Never heard of that issue.

Once the door panel has been removed you will find the reinforcement plate.Remove the four bolts and lower the plate. Once done the two bolts holding the lock mechanism can be removed. A triple square bit is needed for this and the bolts are on the rear part of the door. Then it is possible to remove the lock part. Once taken out the handle can be removed. Two small nuts and two clips below the handle (inside door) holds it in place. However not needed in order to remove the door loch mechanism. When assembling the parts it was a little bit tricky to get the flat pin from the lock cylinder to end up in the correct place in the lock mechanism

As second attempt with a new lock mechanism gave the same results as before. So I took a deeper look into the parts catalogue. This could have saved me a lot of headache, different numbers for US and ROW....
I have a US Boxster in EU and are buying ROW spec parts
No idea what the differences are but it is something with the alarm. I remember that there are different codings for the alarm software in US compared to ROW
Does anyone have a wirediagram over ROW cars ?
Only I have is the Bentley which most likely is a US spec diagram
Bonus in this mess is that I can swap a lock mechanism within 12 minutes including door panel removal
