			Morning, Evening all...... I am curious as to which fuel our Porsche Owning friends across the pond run their Boxsters on.......and, how much per litre..? 
I run my Boxster here in the UK on super unleaded 97 or 98 RON which costs around £6 per gallon.........!!!
 
What are your options over there...?

			I think the price in the states should be between 3.5-4$ per gallon regular/premium (?)...I don't recall race fuel prices as I never use that on rental cars   
Canadian prices are way higher.
 
I guess (almost) nothing beats the german fuel prices... ~1.59€-1.69€ (95-102octane) per liter   
 (1 gallon US = 3,79l; 1€ = 1,37$ --> ~ 8,25-8,80$ per gallon)
    
For the few kilometers I drive my Boxster per year...i only use racing fuel 102octane... those few more dollars "wasted" makes me and my Boyster feel better, and the smiles per gallon ratio goes up!

The best octane rating you can buy in eastern canada is 91 octane, cost now $1.41/ltr. 
In eastern USA (Maine, NH, Vermont maybe even Mass.) the best octane is the same 91 octane. 
1 year ago in Quebec, the best octane you could buy was 91 except around the Montreal and Eastern Township area some gas stations(Petro Canada) sold 93 octane. 
I recall in the Mid to southern USA I could buy the 93 octane. 
 
So, makes you wonder when your gas cap is asking for 97-98 and all you can give it is 91??? But the car seems to run ok. I'd really like to try the 97-98 to see if there is a difference.

			Wow, really surprised you guys don't add octane booster if all you can buy is 91 RON fuel..... I used to run high powered Subaru impreza's years ago..... even added octane booster to 98 Ron fuel then to avoid detonation which still used to spike occasionally on the knocklink..............!!!

The 97-98 is measured in RON, whereas in North America we use AKI which is also labeled as R+M/2 on the station pumps. Basically, take RON and multiply by .95 and you'll get the approximate AKI number. 98 RON = 93 AKI, 94 RON = 89 AKI, 92 RON = 87 AKI.   
As far as I'm aware the 986 needs 95 RON as a minimum, which roughly correlates to our 91 AKI. 
 
Also makes sense why most direct European engines need 91+ AKI to run right in North America, while NA-specific regular engines are designed to run 87+ AKI. My E320 specifies premium, as does my housemate's Mini Cooper.

			In Vancouver BC Canada we have the most expensive gas in all of North America.  Currently 94 Octane is 1.67CAD per litre.  Regular 87 is 1.46CAD per litre. 
 
At 1.67 x 3.785 (litres to US gal) is 6.32CAD a gallon!  If the price for 94 is that high in the States there would be protest bigger than in the Ukraine.  lol

I avoid the stuff as I know that it will eat trough a stirophone cup, and rot a gas tank if it sticks around too long. However I believe it is keoniggseg that makes much more horsepower on e85. E85 vs. Gasoline Comparison Test
Gas Result:From San Diego to Las Vegas and back, we used 36.5 gallons of regular gasoline and achieved an average fuel economy of 18.3 mpg.
 
Gas Cost: We spent $124.66 for gasoline for the trip. The average pump price was $3.42 per gallon.
 
E85 Result: From San Diego to Las Vegas and back we used 50 gallons of E85 and achieved an average fuel economy of 13.5 mpg.
 
E85 Cost: We spent  $154.29 on E85 for the trip. The average pump price was $3.09 per gallon
