Dealer installed drl problem
Hello,
My car was imported from the states, the original owner had drl's installed at south centre porsche in Calgary. Here is the problem. When the lights are in the off position only the passenger side headlight is illuminated. When I click it to parking lights both illuminate. When I turn the lights to full on only the right side is on but the left side has the parking light on ( dimmer) Both high beams work. I believe it is a problem with the drl relay or wiring. Does any body have any pictures or know how to uninstall them ? I have all the records and the receipt says wired in daytime running light relay Light kit - $57.92 40a relay -$12.95 |
I also found this in my records, not sure if it is relatedhttp://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1400532569.jpg

not to hijack the thread, but can you mod a non DRL(US model) car to add the factory DRL by adding the relay?
|
Humm I too have a US import to Canada 2000 boxster S and the DRL are on the main beam, not the fog as mention it should be by dealer invoice. Anyone with a Canadian market could confirm it run from fog originaly?

My 'Canadian" car illuminates the headlights at all times but the high beams and dash lights only work after turning the light switch to 'on'. A year ago' my parking lights were only working on one side and it was the DRL relay. I bought a new one for $57 and installed and all is good.

By the way, the DRL relay can be easily changed and is in the drivers footwell. The Bentley manual has pics.

Since this is a DRL thread, can I get the DLRs to light with car on without turning switch to marker position? That's the only way I can get mine to light up.

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1400550789.jpg So I ended up tearing it out :) the relay was shot and the dark were causing my headlights to yellow. The driver side light still has no full light just parking light / high beam light. How hard is it to test the headlight switch? Any other ideas what it could be? |

Have you checked the bulb?

haha well I fixed the problem.
The quick answer is to double check lightbulbs before you install them! after tracing the head light wires all the way back to the head light checking each connector, I isolated the problem to the headlight unit. I then checked the light bulb and it was shot! I had my oil changed by my mechanic ( lift is way easier than crawling under the car ) and as i was pulling out he noticed the problem with the headlights and had a pack of bulbs so he changed it and no change. he did not have time to further check the problem and i assumed the bulb was good so the only other thing i could think of was the drl kit ..... so i now have no drl :) and working lights :P and an extra drl kit ^.^ |
