Reconditioned or new headlight assembly
I have my estimate today for my Boxster repair, they want to use a reconditioned headlight assembly for the repair. My other headlight is new , only a 18 months old....thoughts ?
The body shop said if I found a new one close they would use that...who has the best price on a new OEM halogen assembly ? Thanks Dwight |
Who "reconditions" headlights?

Problem with a reconditioned headlight is it will yellow fairly quickly compared to a new unit. Of course there is a major cost difference between new and reconditioned

Ins d-bags want to put used parts on your car? No way.
Demand new and don't relent. |
Your lights need to match. In other words, you need a new replacement. Mismatched lights will devalue your car. You have to be made whole.

Im not sure but both estimates I received listed a replacement headlight assembly as reconditioned

Well...I had a customer buy a "new" set of halogens from a vendor and they were shipped to me directly for a retrofit.
They appeared like new, but had obviously been refurbished, evident by the non-OEM sealant and tool marks on the tongue and groove seal. The wiring was also not OEM. I don't recall the vendor, but maybe the customer can chime in? |
